Dinner Talk by Robert Procureur - Owner of Muangthong United Football Club
In our series of ''And now for something completely different'', we are happy to present a Belgian owner of a Thai football club. 10 years ago Robert Procureur set up a football academy in Ivory Coast and had players bought by clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona. Following this success, a Thai football academy was set up three years ago. Recently, coach Rene de Saeyere left KV Turnhout to become the head coach of Muangthong United. The club budget has been multiplied by 5 since 2008. And future plans for the club? Oh yes, an IPO in two years time.
We are delighted that Robert Procureur will address the chamber where he will have to answer the question: Why on earth would one invest in a Thai football club?
