Thai Tank Terminal Ltd is a joint venture of PTT Chemical Public Company limited, the first upstream petrochemical producer of Thailand, and Royal Vopak, the world's largest independent tank storage operator, active in port operations in over 80 ports worldwide. 
To comply with the government's policy to promote petrochemical and heavy industries, the company was set up to construct and operate a bulk liquid petrochemical tank storage terminal, served by three deep-sea berths with a draft of 12.5 meters at Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate in Rayong province. The terminal was also designated as an alternative to the storage in the crowded port of Bangkok.
