TAPB launches ‘Water for Life’ Project

Thai Asia Pacific Brewery (TAPB)’s ‘Water for Life’ project, launched in August 2009, adopts a ‘nature-by-nature’ approach to treat wastewater at its brewery. Inspired by His Majesty the King’s Royal Initiative, the project is designed to improve wastewater treatment efficiency, led by environmental experts.

Two systems – the constructed wetland, and the plant and grass filtration – were conducted on the 8,000 sq.m. plot of land allocated at the brewery.  The cultivation and harvesting of plants are carried out by community members.  The harvested grass is then used as animal feed and the plants for weaving into local handicrafts.  The research area also features a Thai-designed ‘sala’ where information of the Royal Projects is exhibited.

The success of TAPB’s brewery will contribute to promoting the adoption of the Royal Initiative for the benefit of society and to preserve the environment for future generations.
