The “home garden” concept is evolving into one that nourishes both body and soul – combining lovely blooms and succulent vegetables to make gardens that are beautiful, and edible.

The Dutch Embassy and vegetable seed company East-West Seed are showcasing a vertical garden at the Royal Flora 2011 in Royal Park Ratchaphruek, Chiang Mai. It exhibits ornamentals and colorful vegetables, local varieties developed locally using Dutch techniques -- a true example of “East meets West”.

For 30 years, East-West Seed has been making great strides in raising the vegetable industry in the region. Today, it is the market leader for tropical vegetable seeds in Asia.

The exhibit runs until 2012, an auspicious year for Thailand which celebrates the 84th anniversary of His Majesty the King, the 80th anniversary of Her Majesty the Queen, and 60th anniversary of His Majesty the Crown Prince.
